Redacted Independent Bottlers Drop New Release

A new whiskey has been revealed by Redacted Independent Bottlers in collaboration with Waterford's Blackwater Distillery.

Composed entirely of Irish-grown grains, the mash bill for Redacted 002 Blackwater Distillery Irish Whiskey includes 5% rye, 15% oat, 10% wheat, 35% barley, 30% malted barley, and 5% Irish turfed malt.

This unique blend of pot distilled whiskies emerged from a quartet of distinct casks, each contributing to a unique balance of flavours.

Once the casks were vatted together, the whiskey was then artfully diluted and re-casked with a further 12 months of finishing in a Widow Jane Bourbon Barrel. The addition of water midway through maturation is a rare process in Ireland.

Peter Mulryan, esteemed author, historian, and Blackwater Distillery founder, explains:

"Whiskey that is lower in alcohol will leach more easily from the wood, so the idea was to let whiskies marry in the best wood we could find.

The whiskey is bottled at 44.12% ABV / 88.24 Proof/700ml bottle and priced at £80 / 90Euro and available online at RedactedBottlers.com and from 26th July at Carryout Killarney, IrishMalts, Green Acres, Carryout Tramore, James J. Fox and Celtic Whiskey.
