Micil Distillery Announces Inaugural Whiskey Release

Micil Distillery Announces Inaugural Whiskey Release

After more than a century, legal whiskey distillation returns to Galway with the release of Micil Peated Single Malt.

Limited to only 360 bottles, this whiskey represents the marriage of Micil's Connemara and Galway City roots. The team has taken the learnings of their past, but reinvented them for the future, creating a bold, spicy single malt layered with their trademark soft Connemara peat smoke.

Produced on a small still with long distillation times and cuts made by taste and sense alone, this wonderful expression of Galway Whiskey uses 100% Irish barley, malted with turf from the Micil family land and is matured in Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado and Palo Cortado Sherry casks, imparting intense sweetness and depth to this already exceptional spirit.

According to founder Pádraic Ó'Grialais:

We're delighted to share with you this very special expression of True Galway Spirit.

Micil's First Release will go on sale 10:30am Friday 26th July online on the Micil Distillery website along with a few bottles available at McCambridges Galway & Celtic Whiskey Shop Dublin.

Micil will be running an email lottery sign up online for some early access purchase codes from 12:00pm 19th July – 12:00pm 25th July. Check out the lottery page on the website for more details.

This First Release Galway Whiskey is priced at €180 and limited to 360 bottles.
