McConnell’s Irish Whisky Announces Oldest-Ever Release
McConnell’s Irish Whisky celebrated the opening of a new state of the art distillery and Visitor Experience in the A Wing of the Crumlin Road Gaol just last week and now the McConnell’s team is honouring its rich heritage with the launch of a 20 year old single malt whisky, the first release from its Old Cromac Collection.
This 2024 limited release, named after the original Old Cromac Distillery, which was founded over 200 years ago on the southern side of the River Lagan, will be comprised of only 13 casks globally in 2024.
The Old Cromac Collection 2024 release, has been beautifully matured for 19 years in ex-Bourbon casks and finished for an extra year in Tawny Port casks with each bottle bearing a unique cask reference and bottle number. The 2024 release unveiled today has been drawn from cask number #4540, and has been bottled at cask strength of 52.2% ABV to preserve the authentic flavour profile of this exceptional Irish Single Malt Whisky.
The total allocation for Northern Ireland is only 375 bottles, with 258 bottles being available to purchase outside of the new McConnell’s Distillery.
Graeme Millar, Master Distiller at the McConnell’s Distillery explained the background to the Old Cromac Collection:
“This very special Whisky marks the first of our Old Cromac Collection series of limited releases, which are rich in flavour and limited in number. Each bottle encapsulates the spirit of innovation and pursuit of excellence that characterised the exceptional quality of our predecessors, which is being now being continued, with passion and pride, in our new North Belfast home. It is enormously satisfying to produce such a consistently high quality premium liquid, that I know our consumers across the world will enjoy.”
Each 20 Year Old Single Malt will be presented in a beautiful gift box, complementing the exceptional bottle and label design, making it the perfect gift or a collector’s item to treasure at home.
The 2024 Old Cromac Collection is exclusively available in Independent On and Off Trade outlets, across Northern Ireland, supplied via Anzac Drinks, and is priced at a retail selling price of £300.
